2 more killed in 'shootouts'

Two suspected drug traders were killed in separate incidents of gunfight in Rajshahi and Natore on Tuesday night.

With this, the number of deaths stood at 210 across the country since May 12.

In Natore, drug peddler Kabil Hossain, 45,was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Baraigram upazila on Tuesday night.

A team of RAB-5 challenged a gang of people near Mahishbhanga Community Clinic around 11:45pm on their suspicion movement, Azmal Hossain, commander of RAB-5, said.

The criminals opened fire on the elite force members, forcing them to fire back for self-defence.

Later, the RAB members recovered the bullet-hit body of Kabil who was wanted in a dozen of cases.

RAB also recovered some Yaba pills from the spot.

In Rajshahi, drug trader Abdur Rashid, 45, was killed in a gun-battle at Tarash area under Belpukur thana at night.

A total of 17 cases were filed with different Police Stations against Rashid.

RAB recovered a foreign gun, magazine, two bullets and 57 bottles of Phesedyl from the scene.
