Suspected drug trader killed in shootout

An alleged drug dealer was killed in a gunfight with a joint team of law enforcers at Kaptanbazar  in Sadar upazila of Cumilla early Saturday.

With this, the number of deaths stood at 206 across the country since May 12.

On information, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted a drive in the area around 4am.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing the joint team to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

After the gunfight, police found bullet-injured Shahidul, who was wanted in 27 drug and arms cases.

He was rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
