Schoolboy tortured severely on suspicion of theft

A schoolboy has been tortured severely on suspicion of stealing current net in Panchasar area, on the outskirts of Munshiganj town.

Victim Md Antor, 15, son of Md Jumman Mia, is a student of class IX of Panchasar High School in the area.

On July 17, someone stole around 600 pound current net from the shop of Joynal Mia in Gosaibag area.

Joynal's brother Alamgir and his associates picked up Antor the next day and beat him mercilessly with bamboo roll on suspicion of stealing the net, leaving him critically injured.


He was rushed to Modern Hospital in the town. Later, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday following deterioration of his condition.

The victim's mother Fatema Begum said she filed a written complain with a local police station in this regard but Police did not come to see her son still now.

Tonmoy, emergency department doctor of the private hospital, said the patient has been shifted to DMCH due to continuous bleeding from his nose, mouth and rectum.

Munshiganj Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Alamgir Hossain confirmed the incident.
