Six die, 21 injured in city road accidents
Some six people died and 21 injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Savar on Tuesday.
In Dhaka, three people were killed and seven others injured following a head-on collision between a bus and a humanhauler at Beribadh in the city's Rupnagar area in the morning.
Two of the deceased were identified as Hannan Hawladar, 22, the human hauler driver and son of Siraj Hawladar of Mirpur, and Tawhid, 10, son of Mokter Hossain while the identity of the other deceased, an elderly man aged around 65, could not be known immediately, said Sub-inspector Shyamol of Rupnagar Police Station.
The bus hit the three-wheeler near the Bangladesh Water Development Board office, leaving 10 passengers of the human hauler injured, said the SI.
Four of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared three of them dead, said Sub-inspector Bacchu Miah of the hospital police outpost.
In Savar least three people were killed and 15 others injured as a truck collided head-on with a human hauler at Ashulia-Mirpur Beribadh area in the upazila on Tuesday morning.
Two people among the deceased were identified as Shahidul Alam Sikdar, 64, former officer of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and resident of Kumkurari in Ashulia and Tawhid Mridha, 8, grandson of Dulal Mirdha of the same area.
Officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Abdul Awal said Ananda Super, a bus of local Annesha Garment hit a human hauler killing three people on the spot and injuring 15 others.
The injured were admitted to the local hospitals, he said.
Locals demonstrated blocking the road on Kumkumari area demanding restriction on the movement of human haulers on the road.
Meanwhile, the OC said that they were taking steps to curb the movement of human hauler on the road to avoid accidents.
