The United States wants Bangladesh to fulfill its 'commitment to have a free, fair, credible and participatory national election in the country', reports UNB.

US Ambassador in Dhaka Mercia Bernicat shared the US' expectation while talking to diplomatic correspondents in DCAB Talk at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday.

She expressed concern over reported irregularities in the just-held Gazipur polls but expressed satisfaction over lower level of violence.

"This is very encouraging," Bernicat said about wider participation of political parties in the polls with lower level of violence.

DCAB President Rezaul Karim Lotus and General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Mishu also spoke on the occasion.
