Village, fish enclosures flooded as embankment collapses

A village and about hundred fish enclosures in Assasuni upazila of Satkhira district were submerged on Thursday after a flood protection embankment breached along Khulpetua river.

Md Abdul Hakim, a member of Satkhira District Parishad, said around 50 families of Bichhat village and about one hundred fish enclosures have been marooned as around 150 feet stretch of the embankment breached.

The embankment was at high risk but Water Development Board (BWDB) did nothing to repair it, he added.
