Eid holidaymakers this year may face trouble during their journey to home before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Poor condition of roads and highways causes concern among the people planning to go their village homes.

Like the previous years, passengers will face trouble this year due to bad condition of roads, huge backlog of vehicles, accidents and reckless driving, claimed Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity in a discussion.

The discussion titled 'Trouble during Eid journey : Citizens' thought' was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday.

The organisation also claimed that authorities are not prepared to tackle the huge pressure of five crore home-bound passengers in roads, railways and waterways.

The organisation's secretary general M Mozammel Haque Chowdhury said about 40 percent roads and highways are in a sorry state for want of renovation and maintenance.

Besides, the number of river vessels is also less than the requirement.
