BFF awards Kamal Babu one-year suspension
The disciplinary committee of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has awarded Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society head coach Kamal Babu a one-year suspension from any kind of football activities on the disciplinary ground on Wednesday.
Earlier on February 6 during the second semi-final match of the lately finished Independence Cup Football, Kamal Ahmed Babu had a quarrel with match referee Sujit Banerjee Chandan over a decision.
According to the article 53 and 22 of the BFF disciplinary code, Babu will not be able to take part in any kind of football activities from February 13, 2018 to February 12, 2019. Besides, in accordance to the Article 53 and 15 of the BFF disciplinary code, the coach will have to pay a fine of Taka 200,000 to the BFF Account within March 12.
In the 38th minute of the match, an unmarked defender of Rahmatganj MFS blocked an opponent attack with hand and therefore, referee rewarded Chittagong Abahani a penalty kick. Rahmatganj booters protested the decision and their head coach Kamal Ahmed Babu was not happy with the decision either. He rushed to referee after entering the ground. He picked a quarrel with referee there yet his disciples prevented him afterwards. However, the referee didn't show any card to coach Babu then.
Later, Rahmatganj boys became a 10-man team following a red card shown to their midfielder Saddam in the 77th minute of the match.
Winning that match, Chittagong boys secured the final where they lost it to Arambagh to be the runners-up of the event.
