Jhenidah : A case has been filed against five police members, including the inspector of Kachua Police Investigation Centre, and another person in Shailkupa upazila.

Golam Sheikh, a resident of Hamdadpur village of the upazila, lodged the case with Amali Court of Judicial Magistrate Kazi Ashrafuzzaman on Tuesday.

Three of accused police personnel are Inspector Ilias Molla, Assistant Sub-inspector Rakib, and Constable Md Rezanur of the investigation centre, and Hamdadpur village resident Mamunur Rashid.

Taking the case into account, the court directed the district Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit report within 30 days after completing probe into the matter.

Sources in district Chief Judicial Magistrate Court said Golam Sheikh has been living on 17 decimal of ancestral land in the village. On February 7, Mamunur Rashid with the association of police tried to banish Golam Sheikh from homestead.

Following the eviction efforts, inspector Ilias Molla demaned Tk 1 lakh to Golam Sheikh. Otherwise, extortion, terror acts and robbery cases would be filed against him, the inspector threatened.

Inspector Ilias Molla, denying these allegations, said he knows nothing in this regard.
