23,896 poor people get warm clothes in five districts

At least 23,896 poor people got warm clothes in five districts- Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Bhola and Kurigram recently.
LALMONIRHAT: At least 200 pieces of blankets were distributed among 200 poor people at Refugee Colony and Bangabandhu Colony areas in the district town on Friday afternoon.
Advocate Safura Begum Rumi, MP, accompanied by Director of Relief and Disaster Management Department Anisuzzaman, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Arif, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jayosree Rani Roy, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Moshiar Rahman, President of Municipal Awami League Mofazzal Hossain and local AL leaders, distributed the blankets.
Marginal people expressed their gratitude while talking to the journalists for the the government's initiative to distributed the blankets.
The department of relief and disaster management source said they have already distributed around 37,000 blankets this season to the cold-hit poor people of the district.
DINJAPUR: Winter clothes have been distributed among 1,500 cold-hit people in the district on Friday.
Aklima Auto Rice Mill organised the cloth distribution at Madhabpur Village in Sadar Upazila.
Among others, the owner of the Mill Mohammad Younus Ali, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary Biswasjit Ghosh Kanchan, Zila Parishad Member Faisal Habib Sumon, Awami League leaders Mahabubur Rahman, Shahjamal Sarkar and UP member Dipty Rani Roy, were also present.
GAIBANDHA: A total of 496 cold-hit poor families of Batikamari Char under Kamarjani Union in Sadar Upazila here got winter clothes from an NGO Friendship on Wednesday.
The officials of Friendship formally distributed the 1,345 pieces of winter clothes to the poor and distressed inhabitants of the char to save them and their kids from the sufferings caused by cold wave.
The winter clothes included sweaters, T-shirts and trousers while ORYX Bangladesh provided the fund, said an official of Friendship.
District Coordinator of Friendship Abdus Salam, Project Coordinator of Good Governance project Emdadul Haque, Project Coordinator (Health) Akmal Hossain, Manager (Field Operation) Lokman Hossain, Project Manager Mominul Islam and Union Parishad Chairman Abdus Salam Zakir including journalists were present during the distribution.
BHOLA: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed distributed blankets among the 21,000 cold-hit people in five unions of Sadar Upazila in the district on Wednesday morning.
The Commerce Minister inaugurated the blanket distribution programme.
In a teleconference, the minister said the government stood beside the country people and will be in future.
He also said the present government has been working for the development of the country. The new year is the year of election. The next general election will be held on December next.
He hoped that the people will vote for Awami League again for the continuation of the ongoing development.
Among others, Zila Parishad Panel Chairman Nazrul islam Goldar, Joint Secretary Enamul Haque Arzu, Zila Awami League Organising Secretary Mainul Hossain Biplob, Sadar Upazila Awami league organising Secretary Azizul Islam, also spoke.
KURIGRAM: National Board of Revenue (NBR) distributed blankets among more than 700 flood-hit families in Hatia Union under Ulipur Upazila here on Tuesday afternoon.
Customs, Exercise and Vat Commissionerate, Rangpur distributed the blankets on the Hatia Union Parishad premises.
Among others, Commissioner of the Commissionerate Mohammad Anisul Haque, Joint Commissioner Mohammad Fazlul Haque, Assistant Commissioner Rezvi Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Exercise and Vat Commissionerate, Kurigram Shushanta Pal, Revenue Officer Mohammad Ayub, Mohammad Faridul Alam, and Hatia Union Parishad Chairman BM Abul Hossain, were also present.
