24,000 applications submitted to Comilla Board for JSC result evaluation
COMILLA, Jan 13: Nearly 12,000 students of Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination have submitted around 24,000 applications for result revaluation under Comilla Education Board this year.
According to board sources, the results will be revaluated in the last week of this month.
Comilla Education Board has got 24,404 applications from 12,188 students for re-examination. Of those, 6,133 are for English, 3,183 for Mathematics and the rest for other subjects, sources said.
Comilla Education Board Chairman Professor Abdul Khalek said, "The pass rate at our board was lower in the JSC exam than other boards last year. More students became unsuccessful in English and Mathematics. Parents think that the applications may change the result. Many students have got 79 in some subjects."
He further said, "According to rules, the review results are published within 30 days of publication of the results. Accordingly, the re-examination results will be published by January 29."
Comilla Education Board Deputy Controller Bahadur Hossain said, "There are usually four things to be seen in the review. These are: Whether all numbers have been correctly given in the answer sheet or not, whether the number obtained is calculated correctly or not, and whether the number obtained in the OMR sheet is correctly filled or not. After examining these issues, the re-examination results will be published."
The results that change in the review are basically due to the mistakes of the examiners. It has been found that an examinee obtained 82 but the OMR sheet is showing 28. As a result, the student fails.
