Eight arrested with contraband drugs in three districts

At least eight persons were arrested with contraband drugs in three districts- Rajshahi, Habiganj and Dinajpur, in three days.
RAJSHAHI: Police arrested three youths with five bottles of phensedyl and 185 pieces of yaba tablets from Tanore Upazila here on Saturday.
The arrested are: Arif Hossen, 21, son of Abdus Sattar and Sujon Ali Pramanik, 22, son of Mannan Pramanik, of Bijoypur Village in Naogaon District, and Tipu Chowdhury, 28, son of Ranjit Chowdhury, of Shamukkhola area in Rajshahi.
Police sources said on a tip-off, a team of police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tanore Police Station (PS) Shariful Islam raided the said area at 9pm and arrested the three.
A case under Narcotics Control Act was filed in this connection.
The arrested were sent to jail.
On the other hand, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police, in separate drives, arrested two drug peddlers with phensedyl and hemp on Wednesday.
The arrested are: Nurjahan Begum, wife of Mohsin Ali, of Keshabpur Village under Bagha Upazila in Rajshahi District and Taleb, son of Majid Bepari, of Pukundia Village under Lalpur Upazila in Natore District.
Deputy Assistant Director of Rajshahi RAB-5 Abu Rayhan said, "On a tip-off, our team raided Nurjahan Begum's house and arrested her with 100 bottles of phensedyl. Another drug peddler Maruf, son of Nurjahan, fled away at that time."
On the same day, Bagha PS SI Saiful Islam arrested another drug-dealer Taleb while he was carrying half kg hemp.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagha PS Rezaul Hasan Reza said RAB and police filed two separate cases in these incidents.
The arrested were sent to jail following court order on Wednesday, the OC added.
HABIGANJ: Police, in a drive, arrested a drug peddler with 124 kg of hemp from Ghonapara area in Madhabpur Upazila here on Friday morning.
The arrested is Babul Miah, son of Kalam Miah, of Bishnupur Village.
Police said on a tip-off, a team of Kashimnagar police outpost led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Asadul Haque raided the said area and arrested Babul with the hemp.
DINAJPUR: Police arrested two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) with 10 bottles of phensedyl near Santal Bridge area under Debipur Village in Fulbari Upazila here on Wednesday night.
The arrested are: Menhazul Islam Babu, son of late Sirajul Islam, of Mozaffarnagar Village in the upazila and president of Parbotipur Municipal BCL and Raisul Islam Sohel, son of Abdul Qader, of Dhupipara Village in Fulbari Upazila and vice-president of upazila BCL.
Fulbari PS OC Sheikh Nasim Habib said a police patrol team arrested the two with the phensedyl from the said area at 9pm.
Sub-Inspector of Fulbari PS Akkel Ali filed a case under Narcotics Control Act in this connection, the OC added.
