4,20,000 yaba seized off St Martin’s Island

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized 420,000 yaba tablets left abandoned, reports bdnews24.

 

The black market value of the stash is nearly Tk 210 million, the Coast Guard said in a statement.

 

A Coast Guard team led by Station Commander Zafar Imam Shojib took up positions on the north end of St Martin’s Island on Friday night based on a tip-off, according to the statement.

 

The team noticed a passing trawler and commanded it to stop.

 

The smugglers then left their boat and fled away.

 

The stash was found wrapped in polythene sheets in the trawler.
