The train services on Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes have resumed after six hours of disruption following a collision between a Demu train and a truck at Banasua in Sadar upazila of Comilla district on Saturday,

Train services resumed around 3:10 pm after recovery operations were complete, bdnews24.com said citing Comilla Rail Station Deputy Assistant Director Liakat Ali Mazumdar.

According to UNB reports, the accident took place around 8:45am when the sand-laden truck hit the Comilla-bound Demu train at an unauthorised level-crossing.

Following the collision, the wheels of the train veered off the rail tracks, he said.

Three Dhaka-bound trains, including 'Subarna Express', got stranded at Comilla Railway Station following the derailment.

However, the train communications on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes resumed around 2:45pm after a relief train from Akhaura rushed to the spot and salvaged the Demu train, the station master added.
