Rose, meat
Pias Majid
Translated by Asmaul Husna

On the way to butcher shop,
lies a flower market.
Piles of petal and blood...
Everyday, I visit.
Fill my bag
with meat and rose.
Even the newspapers too,
one day Fulbarhi,
another day Nandigram.
Here, I am!
Eating meat,
sniffing rose,
everyday!
Meat and rose,
completing a life each day!

Pias Majid is a poet and works at Bangla Academy. The translator is a literary enthusiast.
