Train accidents: Introduce awareness programme

Published : Friday, 8 December, 2017 at 12:00 AM Count : 75

Dear Sir
After every train accident that takes away lives, it is natural for people to wonder how safe our train lines are. The answer to this question is -- not too safe. Excessive traffic and inadequate upgrading of infrastructure are the two main causes of train derailments due to track failures.
At the same time, accidents on the train line are regular incidents. We have very little awareness programme to reduce accidents in railroad by creating awareness of people. Trains can come from either direction at any time and can be very quiet. Around train tracks or in stations, it is the responsibility of everyone to obey all warning signs and signals and use caution when using headsets or cell phones. Trains are wider than the tracks; never sit on the edge of a station platform.
We hope that the train authorities will take awareness programme to aware people in order to reduce accidents, as well as they will upgrade the train services.
