President calls for using sustainable technology
President M Abdul Hamid on Thursday asked the university authorities to ensure the use of newly invented sustainable technology in field levels for country's socio-economic development.
The President came up with the remark when a 4-member delegation of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) called on him at Bangabhaban on Thursday afternoon.
CVASU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Goutam Buddha Das led the four-member delegation.
Referring to the role of fisheries and livestock in developing the country's socio-economic development, the President said that the invention of sustainable technology is urgent to ensure development of country's veterinary and animal science.
Besides, the President Hamid also stressed the need for protecting the indigenous species of fisheries and livestock by taking different pragmatic steps.
CVASU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Goutam Buddha Das apprised the President of various development and research activities of the university.
A six-member delegation of East West University (EWU) led by its Board of Director Chairman Dr Mohammed Farashuddin also called on the President in the evening.
The President, also the Chancellor of the university, was formally invited to preside over the next month's EWU convocation, where former Indian President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee is scheduled to be present as the convocation speaker.
He asked the EWU authority to provide more scopes so that the poor and meritorious students would obtain higher studies.
Other members of the delegation included Member of the Board Syed Manjur Elahi, HN Ashikur Rahman, MP, Nazma Ahmed and Vice-Chancellor Professor M M Shahidul Hassan. -UNB
