The Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety announced Thursday that since the release of the fourth Annual Report on November 10, thirteen additional Alliance-affiliated factories completed all material components outlined in their Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), bringing the total to 247.
"We commend each of these factories for fulfilling their commitment to provide safer working conditions for their employees," said Alliance Executive Director Amb. Jim Moriarty in a statement.
The factories include Aboni Knit Wear Ltd., Ananta Denim Technology Ltd., Checkpoint Systems Bangladesh Limited, Creative Wash Ltd., Geebee (Bangladesh) Limited, NATco Global Packaging Dhaka Ltd., Rishal Garments Ltd., Rowa Fashions Ltd., Silver Composite Textile Mills, Simba Fashion Ltd., Standard Stitches Ltd. (Woven Unit), Tarasima Apparels Ltd., and Winsome Fashion Wear Ltd.
The Alliance also continued to enforce accountability measures in November for factories that failed to make adequate remediation progress. Pinery Textile Limited was suspended from the Alliance compliant factory list, bringing the total number of suspended factories to 164.
"We remain confident that remediation in all Alliance factories will be largely complete before we transition in 2018, and that our transition will enable sustained progress well beyond our tenure in Bangladesh," said Amb. Moriarty. The current status of each Alliance factory can be found on the Alliance website.
