Sathkira free day observed

Sathkira: People in the district on Thursday observed Satkhira free day with elaborate programmes and much enthusiasm.

Sathkira was freed from Pakistani occupation force on December 7 during the Liberation War in 1971.

Marking the day, district Muktijoddha Command Unit brought a colourful procession in front of its office in the morning which paraded the main streets of the town.

Chaired by District Muktijoddha Command Unit Commander Mosharraf Hossain Moshu, a discussion was held at the district Shilpakala Academy. Mir Mushtaq Ahmed MP was present as the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner Abul Kashem Md. Mohiuddin, Superintendent of Satkhira police Sajjadur Rahman, district Awami League president Mansur Ahmed and VC of Northern University of Business & Management Technology Khulna Dr. Abu Yusuf, among others, spoke at the discussion.

Earlier, the day was heralded with a 31-gun salute at dawn.
