'Edupreneurship Idea Quest 2017' @ DU

Education Entrepreneurship Society of Institute of Education and research, University of Dhaka (DU), has organized first ever national competition on education entrepreneurship. Amidst much anticipation and ceremonial grandeur, the finale of the competition was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, on November 28, 2017.
After a month-long rigorous and demanding journey, Team Brihonnola from Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, bagged the champions' trophy with Team Science Squad from Department of Geology, University of Dhaka, obtaining the first runner-up position and Team Firebolt from Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University as the second runner-up.
Former director of IER Prof Dr Md Siddiqur Rahman says, "Our education system was meant to be learning oriented, but it has become result oriented. Therefore, students' physical development is hampered, just like their mental development."
General Secretary of Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee Munir Hasan shares that one of the most common mistakes in entrepreneurship is creating a solution before identifying the problem. "If you really want to be an entrepreneur, the first thing you need to do is find the problem to solve. The problem serves as the foundation of your project," he adds.
The champion team Brihonnola, consists of Sadikul Islam and Rubaiya Sharmin, has presented their project plan which is focused on providing quality education to transgender in order to assimilate them into mainstream society and involve them in economic activities. They would do so via various awareness-raising campaigns and community involvement.
Team Science Squad, whose members are Mashrur Navid, Md Montasir Arafat, Md Nazim Uddin, and Saiful Islam Apu, has presented their strategic action plan to encourage science education to keep pace with the fast-changing world. A comprehensive idea on a digital platform where students from different strata of society will get required information, ideas and instructions to fulfil their dreams is presented by the Team Firebolt, consists of Kazi Ashraful Huq and Saima Mehedi Khan.
Dr Abdul Maleque, Professor of IER, DU, quotes, "The society that can implement more innovative ideas of education, that society will definitely move forward."
