Jatranat ‘Shahjahan’ staged at JKKNIU

Historical drama "Shahjahan", by Dwijendralal Ray was staged at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in the evening of December 3. The post graduate students of Theatre and Performance Studies Department of the university presented the play at the university's open stage dubbed 'Gahi Samyer Gan'.
Sources have claimed that this was the first staging of the jatranat in the university campus. Some 40 students of the department's second batch performed in the play. Mazharul Hossen Tokder, lecturer of the department of Theatre and Performance Studies, planned and directed the historical play. "We staged the 90-minutes long play as part of the post graduate students' preparation for their examinations. Basically 'Shahjahan', is a historical drama by D. L. Ray," said Tokder.
Praising the brilliant performance of the artistes, the speakers said that through the staging of the famous historical drama of the subcontinent, the students showed their excellent acting skills.
Professor Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the university along with the teachers enjoyed the drama and admired the performers.
