BD, Cambodia sign 10 instruments

Bangladesh and Cambodia on Monday signed 10 instruments, including one agreement and nine memorandums of understanding for mutual cooperation in business, tourism and information technology.
The instruments were signed after the official bilateral talks took place at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the Bangladesh side at the talks, while her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen led his home side.
The two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of agreements by the representatives from the two countries.
The two prime ministers held a private meeting before the signing while the delegations from the two countries continued with bilateral talks.
In a joint address after the signing, Hasina and Hun said they hoped to deepen the relationship between the two countries.
"I believe that signing of the MOUs on the JTC, investment promotion, and our two Apex Chambers will contribute in boosting bilateral trade and investment," Hasina said.
"We also focused on regional cooperation in our today's discussion. I am happy to receive Prime Minister Hun Sen's assurances and support for Bangladesh's Sectoral Dialogue Partnership aspiration with ASEAN. As a Ganges basin country, Bangladesh also looks forward to work with Cambodia aiming to be a member of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Forum."

The MoUs include cooperation in tourism, information and communication technology, institutional cooperation under the Joint Trade Council and collaboration in implementation of sustainable development goals.
A MoU on cooperation and collaboration on preserving war history, war monuments and war relics, a MoU on the modalities for Institutional Cooperation under the Joint Trade Council, and a MoU on Cooperation and Collaboration to implement the SDGs were signed.
Besides, MoUs were inked on academic cooperation between Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and the International Relations Institute of Cambodia following a Institutional Cooperation on promotion of Investment between Bangladesh Investment Authority and the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
The agreement signed by the two countries jointly agrees to accelerate cooperation between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.  
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, State Minister for ICT Division Junaid Ahmed Palak, Chief Coordinator on Implementation of the SDGs Md Abul Kalam Azad, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock MaksudulHasan Khan, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Aparup Chowdhury, FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and BIDA Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam also signed their respective agreements and MoUs for the Bangladesh side.
Besides, ministers and senior officials concerned of the respective ministries and organizations of Cambodia signed the agreements on behalf their respective sides.
