2 'bandits' killed in Sundarbans 'shootout'

Two bandits were killed during a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the Sundarbans at Shoronkhola range under Bagerhat district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Yusuf Fakir, second  in-command of Abbas Bahini, and gang member Ruhul Amin.

The RAB-8 wing commander Hasan Imama Al Rajib said on secret information, a team of elite force conducted a drive at Katler Khal area around 7:45am when a gang of dacoits were taking preparation to commit robbery.

Sensing presence of the team, gang members opened fire on them, forcing the RAB personnel to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

Later, RAB recovered two bullet-hit bodies from the scene.

The elite force also recovered seven arms and 124 bullets from the spot.
