Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF on Lalmonirhat border

Lalmonirhat: A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot to death by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Ambari border under Burimari union in Patgram upazila early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Farid Hossain Sharif, 23, son of Shamasul Haque of the upazila.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said a patrol team of BSF opened fire on a group of cattle traders while trying to enter Indian territory around 2am, leaving Farid dead on the spot.

However, the other cattle traders managed to flee and returned home.

The BSF took away the body of Farid, the BGB sources said.

Confirming the incident, Burimari BGB camp commander Abdul Baten said that they have sent a protest letter to their counterpart.
