DU Journalism Dept holds farewell, reception programmes

Dhaka University (DU) Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department on Tuesday organized a reception to welcome the students of 2016-17 session, and bid farewell to outgoing students of the department.

They also accorded farewell reception to four retired teachers- Prof Dr Sakhawat Ali Khan, Chief Information Commissioner Prof Golam Rahman, Prof Samsul Majid Harun and Prof Kazi Abdul Mannan of the department.

Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the programme while MCJ Department Chairman Prof Mofizur Rhaman chaired it. Teachers, current and former students of the department attended the function.

Prof Arefin said the main duty of journalists is to uncover the truth behind the scene.

“The students of the department have been playing an important role in the field of journalism,” he added.

Later, students staged a cultural function.
