Humayun Ahmed's 69th birth anniv celebrated
The 69th birth anniversary of writer, dramatist, screenwriter and filmmaker, Humayun Ahmed was celebrated across the country on Monday through various programmes.
The birthday celebration programmes began through cutting a cake at his residence 'Dakhsina Haowa' by his family members at 12.01am early Monday.
In the morning, people from all strata, including the writer's family members, two sons Nishad and Ninat and wife Meher Afroz Shaon, paid glowing respect to him placing floral wreaths on his grave at Nuhash Palli in Gazipur. They also prayed for eternal peace of the eminent writer's departed soul.
Two sons of Humayun Ahmed also cut a cake and torched candle lights at the Nuhash Palli to mark their father's birth anniversary.
Placing floral wreath on the Humayun's grave, Shaon said initiative has been taken to set up a memorial museum at Nuhash Palli on the honor of the people's love to Humayun Ahmed aimed at preserving the memories of the famous writer.
Mentioning Humayun had a dream of establishing a cancer hospital, the writer's wife sought cooperation from all, including the country's intellectual personalities, businessmen and government, to materialize Humayun's dream.
Manager of Nuhash Palli Saiful Islam Bulbul said 'Himu Paribahan', anorganization of Humayun's disciples, has taken various programmes in Gazipur district to mark the day. —BSS
