Indian asst HC visits Hindu houses in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Nov 13: Abhijit Chattopadhyay, assistant high commissioner of India in Rajshahi, visited at Thakurbari village of the district on Monday morning where villagers attacked the Hindu-dominated village and vandalised and torched houses of the Hindus.
He went to the village around 10.12am and stayed there for several minutes, said police.
However, he did not make any comments.
Meanwhile, police arrested a total of 53 people from Gangachhara andKotwali areas till Monday morning.
Earlier on Friday, a man was killed and 20 others, including four policemen, were injured in a clash at Thakurbari village in the upazila over a reported Facebook post by Titu Chandra.
Over the issue, around 8,000 people from nearby villages marched towards Thakurbari village, a Hindu-dominated village and vandalised and torched 8-10 houses of the Hindus. —UNB
