Arrest of journo attackers demanded in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Nov 13: Demanding immediate arrest of the attackers who attacked a journalist in Dhobaura Upazila of the district, fellow journalists formed a human chain in front of Upazila Parishad office on Sunday.
Abul Hashem, upazila correspondent of Daily Jugantor,  came under attack on Friday by Jahangir Hosain, a businessman of Dhobaura Bazaar and his men as Hashem covered a recent news of a mobile court that fined Jahangir.  
They beat up the journalist with iron rods and he sustained injuries on his head, back and hands.
The attackers also snatched Tk. 50,400 in cash when he was on the way to Mymensingh.
Injured journalist Hashem was admitted to Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex.
Journalists working with different media, members of Jugantor Swajan Samabesh and local people joined the programme.
Senior Vice-President of Dhobaura Press Club Motilal Sarker, its General Secretary Sirajul Islam, Joint-Secretary Monjurul Haque and local Sangbadik Samity's Vice-President Kamrul Islam Amir addressed the rally, among others.
Hashem filed a case with Dhobaura Police Station accusing five persons including Jahangir on Saturday.
 Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhobaura Police Station Md Shawkat Alam confirmed the matter.
"We are trying to arrest the attackers soon," the
OC said.
