GAIBANDHA, July 2: The district police have installed close circuit (CC) cameras at important places of the town to identify miscreants and check their crimes.
Sources said miscreants leave any place quickly after conducting crimes, but law-enforcers remain in darkness since there is no means to identify them instantly. In this connection, a total of 32 CC cameras have been installed at important places of the town.
Police Super (SP) M. Ashraful Islam said that of the total, some 26 CC cameras have been installed by district police and the rest by the local Motor Malik Samity.
In reply to a question, SP Ashraful Islam said that at least 100 CC cameras are required to bring the district town under CC camera network.
The SP also requested the mayor of Gaibandha Municipality including the solvent persons of the town to install CC camera at their own initiative.
When contacted, Mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Jahangir Kabir Milon said that it is a good initiative and they have accepted the SP's request.
