Fire Incident At City's Alauddin TowerStaff Correspondent The fire incident at a shopping mall in Dhaka's Uttara area has claimed another life, taking the death toll from the incident to six.
The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Hasan Ripon, 36, deputy general manager of Tropical Homes Limited.
With 80 percent burn injuries, Mahmudul Hasan Ripon, 36, was rushed to the intensive care unit of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he died around 4:00am.
Dr Partha Shankar Paul, a resident surgeon of the DMCH's burn unit told The Daily Observer on Saturday.  Earlier, at least five people, including two women, died and over 100 others were injured in the fire at the 15-storey Tropical Alauddin Tower Shopping Complex last evening.
Earlier, five people died and around 50 others were injured in the fire incident. Fire Service sources said the  fire broke out in one of the three basements of Tropical Alauddin Tower Shopping Complex at around 6:15pm  after a lift fell in its shaft with a loud bang, police said.
