A Bangladeshi national was found dead on the Ichhamati river on Putkhali border of Benapole on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Guljar Hossain, 55. He was the member of Pukhali union.

Lt Col Arifur Rahman, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-21, said local people spotted the body floating in the river that falls in the Indian territory in the morning and informed BGB.

However, members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India recovered the body.

The reason behind the death could not be known immediately.
