Four killed in road mishaps

At least four persons were killed and seven injured in separate road accidents in three districts - Netrakona, Dinajpur and Bhola, in two days.
NETRAKONA: At least two persons were killed and one was injured in separate road accidents at Atpara and Barhatta upazilas here on Sunday and Saturday.
Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital sources and eyewitnesses said two constables of Detective Branch (DB) of police - Mahbub Alam, 50, of Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district and Khorshed Alam of Fulbaria upazila in Mymensingh district, were going to Madan upazila by a motorcycle at 4pm.
When they reached at Teligati Kristapur area on the Netrakona-Madan road, a pickup van dashed the bike from behind, causing the motorcycle to skid off the road and hit a roadside tree. As a result, the two riders were seriously injured. Locals rushed them to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared Mahbub dead, while the injured Khorshed Alam was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition.  
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of DB police AKM Kawsar confirmed the incident.
On the other hand, eyewitnesses said a 2.5-year old minor girl Ratri Chandra Barman, daughter of Sajib Chandra Barman of Charpara village under Raipur union in Barhatta upazila was playing beside the road near the house on Saturday morning. Suddenly, an Uradighi-bound microbus from Fakirabazaar dashed the girl, leaving her seriously injured.
Locals rushed the minor to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared her dead. Meanwhile, the locals caught the microbus and its driver.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barhatta Police Station Md Salemuzzaman confirmed the incident.
DINAJPUR: A boy was killed and six others were injured in separate road accidents at Birganj and Sadar upazilas here on Sunday.
Dinajpur Police Control Room sources said, on his way to Birganj upazila headquarters at 1pm, Yearuz, 16, son of Yeasin Ali of Bhognagar village under Birganj upazila, fell from a rickshaw-van and got serious injuries in head.
He was immediately rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead at 3pm.
Later, his body was handed over to family members in the afternoon after an autopsy.
An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with Kotwali Police Station.
On the other hand, an easy-bike bound for Poolhaat from Dinajpur town turned turtle on the road after it collided with a tractor at Neemnagar bus stand area.
As a result, Jalil, 25, driver of the easy-bike, and its passengers - Shahanur, 30, Rafiqul, 28, Jobayer, 32, Aklima, 18, and Firoza, 22, were injured.
BHOLA: A minor boy was killed in a road accident near Muchibari area in Tajumuddin upazila here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Zahid, 10, son of Nure Alam of Chandpur union in the upazila. Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tazumuddin Police Station AKM Shamim Mondal said an auto-rickshaw hit Zahid from behind at 5pm while he was going to market, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals rushed him to Tazumuddin Upazila Health Complex. Later, he died on way to Bhola Hospital at 6pm. The body was handed over to family members without an autopsy, the OC added.
