Vishnu idol found in Barisal pond

BARISAL, May 16: During a re-excavation in an old pond at Poysar haat village under Bakal union in Agailjhara upazila here on Saturday afternoon, labourers recovered a Vishnu idol weighing 60 kilograms.
Later, police took the idol under their custody and lodged a general diary, said Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Agailjhara Police Station.
A local resident Prabir Biswas Nani said, the idol was recovered from the pond of one Nazrul Sikder at 1.15 pm on Saturday.
Afroza Khanam Mita, regional director of the Department of Archaeology, Khulna division, said the idol would be sent to Barisal Divisional Museum following court order.
