One killed, 11 injured in Bogra clash

BOGRA, Apr 30: One person was killed and 11 others were injured following a clash at Bandighi Purbapara area under Sadar upazila here on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Wahed Ali, 45, son of Kasem Ali of the area.
As the news of death spread on Saturday morning, agitated people put seven houses and a godown on fire.
The victim's niece Sonia Begum and one of the injured under treatment at Bogra Medical College Hospital Sabuj Shah said their neighbour and timber trader Hiru Shah owed Tk 30,000 from one Kiamatullah Kamo of the same area. As Hiru wanted the money back, Kamo informed the matter to a local influential Milon.
Later, Milon and his men forbade Hiru to ask for the money on Thursday. Following an altercation in this connection on Friday evening, Milon and his cohorts attacked on Hiru and his men with sharp weapons, leaving 12 people of Hiru injured.
They were admitted to the hospital where Wahed Ali died under treatment at night.
Duty officer at the spot and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bogra Sadar Police Station Abdur Razzak said police was deployed at the area and the body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy.
