Ziaul Ahsan, promoted to Brigadier General, has been made a Director of National Security Intelligence (NSI).
He was Additional Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
RAB-11 Commander Anwar Latif Khan has replaced Ziaul Ahsan, RAB said in a media release on Thursday. Latif has been promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel. Col. Latif joined the new office on Wednesday. Brig Gen Ziaul also took over his new assignment on the same day. He took over as an ADG of RAB two and a half years ago and made headlines several times.
His colleagues said he played key roles in the arrests of top leaders of militant organisations Jama'at-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Harkat-ul-Jihad-Al-Islami (HuJI), Ansarullah Bangladesh, Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana, drug lord Amin Huda and many others. He also played a key role in the repatriation of Nur Hossain, main accused in the seven-murder case of Narayanganj, from Kolkata.
