Sheikh Jamal and Prime Doleshwar secured their second successive win in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) winning their respective second round matches against Abahani and Kalabagan Krira Chakra respectively while Prime Bank booked their first victory beating Cricket Coaching School on Tuesday.
Sheikh Jamal Vs Abahani Limited
Opener Mahbubul Karim scored a wonderful ton while Muktar Ali hit a sixer in the last ball to help Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to record their second successive victory in the DPL defeating Abahani Limited by four-wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Winning the toss Abahani opted to bat first. Riding on three half centuries by Tamim Iqbal, Uday Kaul and Nazmul Hossain Shanto Abahani piled up a challenging score of 287 runs for three wickets.
Tamim might have a woe as he missed his ton for only 10 runs. Kaul scored 53 runs and Shanto made 52* while Mosaddek Hossain was unbeaten with 46 runs.
Chasing the winning target of 288 runs, Sheikh Jamal sailed the victory in the last ball with Muktar hit a six to finish it. Opener Mahbubul Karim led his side in the run chase hitting a ton (130) where Muktar gave the finishing touch.
In the last ball Sheik Jamal needed five runs and Muktar hit Taskin for a six to snatch the victory.
Prime Bank Vs Cricket Coaching School
The centuries from Salman Hossain and Saif Hasan of Cricket Coaching School went in vain as they lost to Prime Bank by a thrilling five-run at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan ground in Savar.
Winning the toss Prime Bank opted to bat first and scored 257 runs for all in 48.3 overs capitalising the fifties from Taibur Rahman (76) and Yasir Ali (53).
In pursuit, Cricket Coaching School were in a better position as their two batters Salman Hossain (100) and Saif Hasan (110) hit tons but finally they could manage 252 runs for seven wickets.
Salman Hossain of Cricket Coaching School was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
Kalabagan Krira Chakra Vs Prime Doleshwar
Mashrafe's Kalabagan Krira Chakra tasted their successive second defeat in the DPL as they lost to Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by four runs at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Prime Doleshwar posted 287 runs for eight wickets in 50 over after they opted to bat first. Opener Imtiaz Hossain and Nasir Hossain hit fifties for Doleshwar. Imtiaz made 73 while Nasir missed ton for only three runs as he got out scoring 97 runs.
Chasing the target of 288, Kalabagan could manage 283 runs for nine wickets. In the last over Kalabagan needed nine runs but their three batters including Mashrafe got ran out in last three balls trying to take double and they faced the defeat from so close to win.
