A four-member of Bangladesh women's weightlifting team left for Uzbekistan this (Wednesday) morning to take part in the 27th senior women's & senior men's Asian weighting to be held in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, on April 21-30. It is expected that weightlifters from 25 to 30 countries will be vying for the coveted medals. The Bangladesh women's team members are 12th SA games gold winner Mabia Akter Shimanto, silver winners Phulpati Chakma and Rokeya Sultana Sathi, bronze winner, Molla Sabira Sultana and team's coach Shahria Sultana Suchi. Mohyuddin Ahmed, general secretary of Bangladesh Amateur Weightlifting Federation, said to BSS, "This competition is very important for our weightlifters as around 261 weightlifters from across the world will compete in 15 different categories in the upcoming Olympics Games in Brazil and they will be selected from different championships in different continents. Some weightlifters will qualify from the Asian Championships. So, our target is to qualify for the Olympics as well as improve our performance in comparison to the SA Games." ?BSS
