Two killed in road accidents

At least two people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in two districts - Noakhali and Jessore on Monday.
NOAKHALI: A driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was killed, and four passengers of a three-wheeler were injured in a road accident on the Basurhat-Kabirhat road under Sirajpur union in Companyganj upazila here on Monday morning.
The deceased driver was identified as Main Uddin, 28, son of Alam Mia of Narsinghapur village under Chaprashirhat union in Kabirhat upazila.
The identity of the injured could not be confirmed immediately.
Locals said a CNG auto-rickshaw bound for Bosurhat bazaar from Kabirhat bazaar collided with a hand tractor at Mitali Brickfield area at 9:30am, leaving the driver Main Uddin and four others injured.
Locals rushed them to Companyganj Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor Dr Md Selim declared Main Uddin dead. The driver died on the way to the hospital, the doctor said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companyganj Police Station Sajedur Rahman Sajid said police were sent to the spot.
JESSORE: A female health worker of non-government organisation Brac was killed as a covered van hit her on Benapole-Jessore Highway in Kalagacchi village of Jhikargaccha upazila in the district on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Selina Khatun, 20, a health worker of Nabharan Branch of Brac and wife of Khalilur Rahman,a resident of Chartola village of the upazila.
