Tk 10 lakh Indian medicines seized

Law enforcing agencies seized Indian medicines worth about Tk 10 lakh from two districts - Chuadanga and Meherpur in two days.
CHUADANGA: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-6, in a drive, recovered 20,000 pieces of Indian tablets worth about Tk 5 lakh from Utholi pucca road area at Utholi village under Jibonnagar upazila here early Sunday.   
Commanding Officer of (BGB)-6 Chuadanga Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Amir Majid said on a tip-off a BGB team led by Utholi   Camp Commander Habilder Saiful Islam raided the said area at 6:30am and seized 10,000 pieces of Indian Mathason tablets and 10,000 pieces of Sipro Pathadin tablets left in an abandoned condition.
Sensing BGB men's presence, the drug peddlers fled from the spot.
Later, the seized medicine was deposited to Chuadanga district customs office.
No case was filed till sending the news.
MEHERPUR: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 50,000 pieces of Indian beef fattening tablets worth about Tk 5 lakh from Buripota frontier under Sadar upazila here on Saturday night.
Buripota BGB Camp Commander Nazrul Islam said, they had information that a group of smugglers entered Bangladesh crossing the barbed wire fence on Saturday night. Following this, BGB members raided the No. 116 main demarcation pillar area.
Sensing BGB's presence the smugglers fled from the spot, leaving behind 50 containers loaded with the tablets. Later, BGB recovered the contraband items.
