Bangladesh women's national football team returned home on Saturday after finishing their voyage of the third SAFF Women's Football Championship-2014 held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The women flew to the host country on November 10 and made a flying start after beating the Afghans women of Group-A by 6-1 margin at the Jinnah Football Stadium in Islamabad. Bengal striker Krishna Rani Sarker made a hat-trick while Maynu Marma, Sabina Khatun and Munmun Akter scored three goals apiece in the meet.
Although the Bengal team lost to India by 5-1 margin, in the very next meet they defeat Maldives by 3-1 and for the first time Bangladesh qualified for the SAFF women semi-final. In the second meet, Sabina Khatun scored the solitary goal. She scored a brace in the last group meet while striker Maynu Marma scored the other goal of that meet.
Regrettably the Red-Green jerseys couldn't pave the way to the final as they were defeated to Nepal by 1-0 margin in the semi-final on Wednesday at the Jinnah Sports Stadium in Pakistan.
