National award winning film director Kazi Morshed died at the National Chest Diseases Hospital in the capital on Friday morning.
Family sources said Morshed had been admitted to the hospital on Wednesday in a critical condition. His health condition deteriorated on Thursday.
Morshed left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Born on April 24, 1950 at Hinguli in Mirsarai of Chittagong district, Kazi Morshed had begun his career in the filmdom as an assistant of film director SM Shafi.
‘Shantana’ was his first film. His film ‘Ghani’ won the national awards in four categories in 2006.
He also directed some television dramas.
